I’m Alex Ditsas, a Sydney-based cinematographer and director working across narrative film, commercials, music videos, documentary and premium social content.
My work has taken me across Australia, the United States, Europe, Asia and the UK, with a practice driven by light, movement, culture and the creation of a distinct visual language for every project.

My short film work has won and been nominated for awards at festivals across Australia, the US, Canada and Europe, including recognition for Best Film, Best Comedy, Audience Awards and Spirit Awards.
Most recently in 2026, a short film I shot, The First Last Word, screened at Dallas International Film Festival and St Kilda Film Festival, continuing a run of work recognised across both local and international festivals.

My work has screened and been recognised at festivals including Tropfest Australia, Portland International Film Festival, LA Golden Egg, Macon Film Festival, Sydney Underground Film Festival, Montana International Film Festival and CLIPPED.
Most recently, I shot my debut feature film as cinematographer, Mad Extravagant City, a Sydney crime thriller currently in post-production.
Shot over 25 days across multiple locations, the film marks a major step in my narrative work and has grown my passion for atmosphere and character-led visual storytelling.

I also direct across social and branded content, with work generating tens of millions of views for brands.
My social work sits on the pulse of culture, combining a sharp understanding of platform behaviour with a background in film and cinematography to create content that feels crafted, current and built to hold attention.

Whether I’m working on a feature film, commercial, music video or branded project, my approach is grounded in story and images that feel specific, intentional and alive.
